"A New Day" Meeting Notes

6/26/2011

On July 26th, A New Day Ministries met with the following in attendance: Ally, Kate, Bonnie, Katie, Ryan and Pam.

Pam shared the benefits of the garage sale:

1. We made $471.60
2. Overall, it was a geat experience of stepping out in faith
3. Almost everyone from Transformation House church got involved; showed great teamwork
4. It built more bridges with the Enderby's neighbors.

At the close of the garage sale, Katie and Pam brought the non-clothing items to Shawnee Community Center. They got a tour of their facility and received information about how they help others in need. We received their business cards and will direct people to them who we cannot help.

Shelving/Storage

The Enderby's basement garage has several cabinets that can be used to store non-perishable items. They need to be washed and painted. For now, we don't see a need to buy more shelving.

Jason plans to purchase C-Clamps and pipes so we can hang clothing. We have a lot of clothing left from the garage sale. This needs to be done asap.

Kate is letting us borrow her clothes racks.

Katie and Ryan have an end table we'll use.

Ryan plans to come this week to help clean cabinets.

ANYONE who had signed up to donate time to this ministry, we now need your help in cleaning and painting cabinets! Please call Pam to arrange a time to come over to help.

Buying Food

Pam learned of Food Depot from one of her neighbors as a resource place to buy food at wholesale. They sell to non-for-profit organizations. In the near future, Pam and anyone else who wants join her will go to Food Depot to buy food. Let her know if you are interested.

Future Fund Raisers

In the Fall, Transformation House Church will participate again in the Trick or Treat so Others Can Eat food drive. Everyone from Transformation will be asked to solicite neighbors, friends for this food drive. All food will go to A New Day Ministries.

In the Spring, A New Day would like to have another food fund raiser. Several different ideas were shared. Maybe, music and a cook out in the park. Everyone who attends brings canned food.

Ryan is going to check with the jazz group band he plays with. Maybe having a dance party with non-perishable food items being the "ticket" for entrance. A place with electrical facilities to hook up sound is necessary. Anyone have more ideas about this?

Katie and Ryan suggested having an outdoor cookout and games at their house, inviting their friends, and asking them to bring non-perishable items.

In the summer, we plan to have another garage sale.

Clothing
Keep your ears and eyes open to opportunities to ask for clothing. Is someone cleaning out their closets? moving? kids' grown out of their clothing? Garage sale leftovers? The opportunities are limitless.

Money Donations
Do you know someone who's a member or on the council of a community club, such as the Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus, etc. They give donations to non-for-profit organizations such as ours to help feed and clothe the community. Please make contacts. "We don't have because we don't ask."

Current Financial Report

A New Day Ministries business cards were purchased. These will be used to give to others as referral cards. If you know someone who has a need or they know someone with needs, pass these cards on.  They cost $5.67.

A New Day's current balance: $465.93.

(Please save and give all receipts of purchases for a New Day to Pam).

God is going before A New Day.
 It's fun to follow Him!
